The 24Hr Comic Challenge (Part 02)

Our group was ground to a halt for our storyline in the middle of the semester. We had a clear goal of what our story’s theme should be, but we were unsure of how it should go about to get to the point. With the 24 HR Comic Challenge, we decided to use the weekends to our advantage and explore the possibilities of how the story can be, and hopefully have a stroke of inspiration for our Major.

I wanted to make my comic similar with the books written by Dr Seuss, having verses of rhymes in each picture. The medium I used for my comic are plain white cards, so that each panel will have a picture and a short paragraph of rhyming verses. Outlines of it is sketchy to match the silly rhyme verses and the kooky environment the story is taking place in.

The comic revolves around the Weatherman and his typical day at the job, although on that day, he encountered a boy who gets stuck on the cloud with his kite while cleaning up the clouds in the sky. He was made to bring the boy back down to the town, despite not willing to and disrupting his job schedule, grumbling all the way. The characteristic is influenced by a few of the elderly uncles I noticed in Singapore, even though they look grumpy, they still dutifully fulfil their jobs.

It was fun, with his personality explored in this comic challenge. It is a nice break to get our brain juice flowing through the brain.
