Since our major project narrative was not yet solidified when the 24hr comic Challenge rolled around in October 2014, we took it as a chance to explore things from a different angle to see if we could get new inspiration and ideas. We didn’t give ourselves limitations other than having to make use of the weatherman character that was finalised, so that we can play around with fresh ideas that would help us improve on our major project. The both of us worked individually for this challenge and managed to come up with many interesting points that eventually helped us solidify our major project

To shake things up a little, I used the perspective of an inanimate object (pretending that it has its’ own thoughts and if so how would it spend its’ day) to explore a different direction that the story direction could head towards.

Additionally, I have always enjoyed traditional crafts so I decided to make the comic in the form of a pop-up book. Since one pop up card counts for 2 pages, I would have to make a minimum of 12 pop up cards I order to successfully complete the challenge.(For the end result I made 11 pop up pages and a 2-paged flip cover) I made a simple poem about how a kite would spend its day and planned how each part would be presented as a pop-up. Every page has different items that are being selected to “pop up” in order to match the verses of the poem. I had a lot of fun drawing and making all the assets by hand. To wrap things up, I made a flip cover page for the book and made a simple binding for all the individual cards.
